Charlottetown Islanders News Release

With the win against the Huskies last night the Islanders now sit at 8-2 over their last ten games. Charlottetown's offense has been the story for the team this season and did that ever stand true against Rouyn-Noranda with a 7-2 win. The win also made them 2-0 on this Quebec road trip so far and they'll look to put the Foreurs to bed this evening to go a perfect 3-0, which would be a huge successful stretch for the team. These two squads have met up one time previously this season at the Eastlink Centre. In that bout, the Islanders prevailed with a 7-5 win but not without a strong comeback effort from the Foreurs in the second frame. With the Isles looking to go perfect on this road trip and the Foreurs looking to even the score, it's sure to be a highly competitive match at the Centre Agnico Eagle.

Val-d'Or hasn't had their most ideal season to this point, they sit at just 9-12-2-0 through 23 games. Their record has them sitting with a total of twenty points which only keeps them one point ahead of the second last place Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the standings. Leading the charge for the Foreurs this season is St. Louis Blues 2019 7th round pick, Jeremy Michel. Michel delivered three assists last night against the Moncton Wildcats putting his points season total up to 29. Michel has spent all five of his seasons with Val-d'Or and is currently off to his quickest start through nearly the first third of the season.

As Jeremy Michel did last night with three assists, so did the Islanders Xavier Simoneau. Simoneau has proven to be worth every piece the Isles sent Drummondville for him. Xavier now has 42 points in 21 games keeping him on an astonishing two-point per game pace. Patrick Guay hit the twenty-goal mark last night against Rouyn-Noranda when he netted goals number 20 and 21. In just 24 games Patty Guay has already tied his previous career-high in goals which he recorded with Sherbrooke back during the 2019-20 campaign with 21 goals in 55 games. Guay now has a multi-goal game in each of his last three bouts. Xavier Simoneau and Patrick Guay continue to prove they may be one of the most lethal duos in Charlottetown Islanders history.

William Trudeau and Jacob Goobie have also stepped up big for the Isles in this road stretch. William Trudeau had to pick up some extra weight on the D-line last night as his linemate Oscar Plandowski started serving his four-game suspension. Trudeau recorded two goals last night against the Huskies including one of the empty netters that put the Huskies to bed. Jacob Goobie has now gotten the win in each of the last three games allowing 5 goals on 72 shots. It's unlikely he starts on back-to-back nights so Isles fans watching or listening live are likely to see Oliver Satny between the pipes.

Puck drop is set for 5 pm AST this evening.
