After suffering a 2-1 loss to Reno over the weekend and having its midweek match against Las Vegas Lights postponed, Tacoma Defiance (2-3-1, 7 points) continues its road stint on Saturday evening with a match at Sacramento Republic FC (3-1-3, 12 points) at Papa Murphy's Park. The two sides previously played to a 3-3 draw on July 13 in Sacramento.

THIS WEEK'S DEFIANCE NEWS UPDATES

Wednesday's match at Las Vegas was postponed due to a positive COVID-19 test within the Nevada club. The fixture has been re-scheduled for next Wednesday, August 19 at Cashman Field (7:30 p.m. PT / ESPN+).

Defiance on Wednesday released midfielder Jesse Daley, who made 50 appearances over three seasons with the club.

Tacoma's match at Real Monarchs SLC on September 2 has been re-scheduled for September 4 at Zions Bank Stadium (7:00 p.m. PT / ESPN+).

Alec Díaz was named to USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 7 after recording two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over Timbers 2 on August 3. Díaz earned the honor in Week 4.

Goalkeeper Christian Herrera's loan from Oakland Roots SC has been extended to September 12.
