Tacoma Defiance (2-6-1, 7 points) continues its road stint on Wednesday evening with a match at Portland Timbers 2 (0-10-0, 0 points) at Providence Park. The match was previously scheduled for Saturday, August 29 but moved due to August 30 due to a conflict with a Portland Timbers MLS home match, then rescheduled for September 9 following a potential COVID-19 case within Portland's traveling party.

Defiance is currently amidst a four-match losing skid after beginning the USL restart with a three-match unbeaten streak. In the most recent result, Defiance fell 1-0 at Real Monarchs on September 4. Both of Tacoma's wins this season have come against Timbers 2 in a pair of shutout victories on July 18 and August 3.

Alec Díaz scored three goals and Chino Pérez tallied two over the two games over Portland earlier this season, which Tacoma won by a combined score of 7-0. Díaz leads the club with four goals in 2020. The two sides meet again at Providence Park this Saturday, September 12 (7:00 p.m. PT / ESPN+).
