Seattle Sounders FC begins the 2016 MLS regular season on Sunday with a nationally televised matchup against Sporting Kansas City on the Xbox Pitch at CenturyLink Field (4:00 p.m. PT / FOX Sports 1, FOX Deportes, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360 AM). Sunday s match is being televised via FOX Sports 1, with John Strong, Alexi Lalas and Julie Stewart-Binks on the call, marking the sixth time in eight seasons that the Rave Green have opened the season in front of a nationally televised audience. KIRO Radio 97.3 FM is airing is airing the match live with Matt Johnson and Kasey Keller on the call, as well as Jason Rantz, Wade Webber and Danny Jackson providing pre, half and post-match coverage from the booth. Fans in Western Washington can tune-in to El Rey 1360 AM for a Spanish radio broadcast, featuring "Zuper" Mario Rodriguez and Felipe Maqueda on the call.
After falling 5-3 on aggregate to Club América in the 2015-2016 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinals, Sounders FC kicks-off its league campaign Sunday against a Sporting KC squad that fell in the Western Conference Knockout Round via penalty kicks to eventual MLS Cup Champion Portland Timbers. Seattle is 7-2-3 all-time against Sporting, including a 1-0 win in the 2014 season-opener at CenturyLink Field.
