Following a 2-2 road draw with the LA Galaxy on Saturday, Sounders FC continues its road stretch with a Cascadia clash against the Portland Timbers on Friday, August 23 at Providence Park (7:00 p.m. PT / ESPN, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM). This marks the second of two MLS regular-season meetings between the two regional rivals this season, after the Timbers earned a 2-1 win at CenturyLink Field on July 21. The two sides have met 106 times across all competitions dating back to 1975, with Seattle holding a 52-40-14 advantage.
Friday's match is being broadcast nationally on ESPN and regionally on YouTube TV, featuring Jon Champion and Taylor Twellman on the call. Sports Radio 950 KJR AM is airing the contest, with Matt Johnson and Kasey Keller handling the commentary, as well as Jackson Felts, Wade Webber and Danny Jackson on pre-match, halftime and post-match coverage from the studio. Fans in Western Washington can tune in to El Rey 1360 AM for a Spanish radio broadcast, featuring "Zuper" Mario Rodriguez, Felipe Maqueda and Carlos Tapia.
Following Friday's match, Brian Schmetzer's side returns home to take on the LA Galaxy on Sunday, September 1 (3:30 p.m. PT / FS1, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
