Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Breaking Out the Brooms

The Aberdeen IronBirds completed their first series sweep of the season by taking all three games against the Batavia Muckdogs last night. The victory was Aberdeen's fifth straight win and improved the IronBirds to 7-3 in their last ten games. The IronBirds used an offensive explosion to dig themselves out of a four run hole to cruise to the finish line late in the game. Timely hitting and pouncing upon opportunistic chances helped blow the game wide open for the assured victory.

Hitting Streak Stays Alive

Federico Castagnini extended his hitting streak to seven games Thursday night as he was 1-2 with an RBI and three runs. Castagnini picked up his only hit of the game in the seventh inning when he hit a single off of Muckdog pitcher Christian MacDonald.

Aberdeen Had Batavia's Number

Batavia struggled against Aberdeen this past series collectively going 14-90 for a .156 team batting average.
