The Tri-City Valley Cats employed a 17-hit attack to win the opener of a 3-game series with the Crosscutters Saturday night at Susquehanna Bank Park at Bowman Field 9-5.
Cutters starting pitcher Alejandro Arteaga (1-3) only lasted three innings allowing five runs on nine hits, while striking out two.
The Cutters' offense was held to just one hit until the seventh inning when they scored four runs on a two out, 2-run double by Emmanuel Marrero. Cord Sandberg struck out one batter later but reached on a throwing error by the catcher which allowed Stankiewicz and Marrero to score.
