Swift Current Broncos News Release
The Records: The Broncos are 17-27-4-1. They are 11-14-1-0 at home and 6-13-3-1 on the road. The Broncos sit 6th in the East Division and 11th in the East Conference.
The Broncos are 10 points behind Edmonton and trail Medicine Hat and Saskatoon in the Eastern Wildcard standings for the 2nd playoff spot.
The Tigers are 20-27-3-1 which is 5th in the WHL Central Division. They are 5 points behind Edmonton for the final wildcard playoff spot.
Last Games: The Broncos are coming off a 3-2 overtime win against Prince Albert Sunday night. Tyler Steenbergen had the overtime winner while Jon Martin and Tyler Adams scored in regulation. Taz Burman made 30 saves for the Bronco win.
Swift Current has won 5 of their last 6 games.
Medicine Hat lost 9-3 to Moose Jaw on Sunday. The Tigers have lost 5 of their last 7.
BRONCO DEADLINE DEALS:
Debrusk Dealt: The Broncos traded Jake Debrusk to Red Deer for 18 year old forward Lane Pederson, a 2017 1st round bantam pick and a 2016 3rd round pick.
Schumacher Sent to Seattle: The Swift Current Broncos sent the rights to Andreas Schumacher to Seattle to free up a roster spot for an import.
New Face, Olhaver: After freeing up an import roster spot the Broncos added 18 year old Swedish forward Gustav Olhaver. The 6'7, 220 pound left wing was released by Seattle after they acquired the right to Andreas Schumacher.
Leth left: Cavin Leth was traded to Seattle. The 19 year old forward was exchanged for 17 year old defenseman Sahvan Khaira. Khaira is 6'3.5 and 220 pounds.
Bye to Bow: The Broncos dealt 20 year old goalie Landon Bow to Seattle in exchange for 20 year old forward Jamal Watson, 18 year old goalie Taz Burman and a conditional 2nd round WHL bantam draft pick.
Adamson Added: The Broncos made one deal on deadline day adding 19 year old right winger Austin Adamson from Red Deer for an 8th round WHL Bantam Draft pick in 2017.
VS The Tigers: This is the first time Swift Current has played their former divisional rivals in 2015-16. The Broncos and Tigers will play all 4 of their games against each other over the next 32 days.
SICK BAY: Jordan Harris, upper body indefinite. Cole Johnson, upper body indefinite. Gustav Olhaver is out 1 week with an upper body injury.
Special Teams: The Bronco power play is scoring 18.8% of the time which is 16th best in the WHL. The penalty kill is 16th best in the league at 77.4%.
Med Hat's power play is 13th best in the league at 19.7%. The Tigers have the league's 2nd worst penalty kill at 76%.

Bronco Prospect and All-Star: 2015 Bronco first round bantam pick Riley Stotts was named a second team all star in the Manitoba Midget AAA hockey league. Stotts was the only 2000 born player named to a league all-star team. The 15 year old forward leads The Winnipeg Wild in scoring with 18 goals, 17 assists and 35 points in 27 games.
Heward appeared at World U17's: Broncos assistant coach Jamie Heward served as an assistant coach of Team Canada Red at The 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. Heward and Team Canada Red lost to Sweden in the Bronze Medal game Saturday.
Bronco Prospect wins gold at Mac's: 1999 born forward and Bronco prospect Tyler Oakenfold was part of the gold winning team at the Mac's Midget Tournament in Calgary. Oakenfold plays for the Calgary Midget AAA Flames.
Broncos Prospects Shine in U16 Challenge Cup: 3 members of the Broncos Bantam Draft class of 2015 took part in the U16 Challenge Cup in Calgary. Josh Prokop and Jacob Bernard-Docker were a part of Gold Medal winning Team Alberta. 2000 born prospect Riley Stotts led silver medal winners Team Manitoba in scoring. Broncos Assistant General Manager Jamie Porter and Goaltending Coach Derek Purfield also lent their talents to Team Alberta.
Drafted Broncos: Glenn Gawdin was selected in the 4th round by the St. Louis Blues in 2015. Gustav Olhaver as a 7th round selection of the Colorado Avalanche.
Who's the Best? The WHL recently named its Top 125 players of all time. Fans can vote for their favorites. After fan voting, the greatest all time players in the WHL will be named this season. Former Broncos on the list are: Cody Eakin, Dan Lambert, Adam Lowry, Joe Sakic, Brian Sakic, Bryan Trottier and Tiger Williams.
