Calgary, AB - The Western Hockey League announced today that Stuart Skinner of the Lethbridge Hurricanes has been named the Vaughn WHL Goaltender of the Month for January 2016.

A 17-year-old from Edmonton, AB, Skinner posted a record of 5-1-0-0 over six appearances in January. He recorded a 1.50 goals against average and a .955 save percentage to go along with two shutouts. In the six games he started, Skinner held the opposition to two goals or fewer in five of those contests.

Skinner's productive play has propelled the Hurricanes to first place in the Eastern Conference standings and the best overall record across the League. The 6-4, 197 lb netminder claimed three first star honours and a third star nod in January while helping Lethbridge achieve a 10 game winning streak from January 2nd-24th.

Skinner is in his second WHL campaign with the Lethbridge Hurricanes and has posted a 32-30-2-3 record with four shutouts in 74 career regular season contests.

These accomplishments make Stuart Skinner a deserving choice as the Vaughn WHL Goaltender of the Month for January.
