
T-Birds Sign Jared Pelechaty

KENT - Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced defenseman Jared Pelechaty has signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the team.
"We are happy to add Jared. He will really help us get through the injuries we have at this time. He has pushed hard to improve his game and we expect him to be ready to play for us at the start of next season," said Farwell. "We also appreciate the understanding of Neepawa on our current situation and are thankful to them for letting Jared join us for five games at this point of the season."
Pelechaty, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, is currently playing for the Neepawa Natives in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. He has two goals and four assists for six points in 31 games with the Natives.
Pelechaty attended the T-Birds training camp the past two seasons. Pelechaty will wear number 3 for the T-Birds and will eligible to play in games this week.
By signing a WHL Standard Player Agreement Pelechaty is guaranteed a WHL Scholarship for every year he plays in the WHL. A player is able to attend any career enhancing institution of his choice, including universities, colleges, technical institutes, trade schools, or any other institution which will help the player achieve his academic and career goals. For each season played in the WHL, a player receives a one year post-secondary scholarship, which includes: Tuition, Compulsory Fees and Required Textbooks.
The WHL provides the top young hockey talent in western Canada and the United States with the opportunity to develop their skills on the ice at the highest possible level, without compromising their academic goals. The WHL is committed to recognizing academic excellence.
The T-Birds host the Kamloops Blazers on Wednesday at 7:05pm at ShoWare Center. They travel to Portland to take on the Winterhawks on Friday at 7pm. They are back home on Saturday to play the Everett Silvertips at ShoWare Center at 7:05pm.
T-Birds single game tickets for the 2015-16 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 am to 5 pm Saturday game days at 10 am and Sunday game days at noon.
T-Birds season tickets are currently on sale. Season tickets can be purchased by calling the T-Birds office at 253-239-7825.
