Game Day: Rockets and T-Birds Back at It in Seattle

Tonight's Preview: The Kelowna Rockets open a three game road trip tonight with a stop in Seattle/Kent against the T-Birds. This is the fourth and final meeting of the season between the two teams with the home team having won all three games. This is the third meeting between the two teams in the last 10 days. They met last night in Kelowna with the Rockets earning a 7-4 win. Rourke Chartier scored three times while Justin Kirkland (2+2=4) and Tyson Baillie (1+3=4) had four point outings. Tomas Soustal had three assists. The Rockets scored twice on the power play while also adding a shorthanded goal. Michael Herringer made 27 saves in the team's 37th win of the season. In the big picture, the Rockets have won 33 of their last 46 games overall and are 22-4-2-0 on home ice and 15-10-1-0 on the road. The Rockets have points in 31 of 40 games (28-9-3-0). The team has won 18 of its last 28 games. Aftertonight's game, the Rockets head straight to Prince George for back-to-back games this weekend before a showdown at home against 2016 Memorial Cup hosts, the Red Deer Rebels on February 16th.

Vs Seattle: The Rockets are 9-6-1-3 in the last 19 regular season meetings against the T-Birds. The Rockets are 5-2-1-2 in their last 10 regular season home games against Seattle and 4-4-0-1 in their last 9 regular season appearances at ShoWare Center. Michael Herringer is 1-1-0-0 in two appearances with a goal against average of 3.05.

Salmond was the Rockets 10th round bantam pick in the 2010 WHL draft and was playing this season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the Camrose Kodiaks. Salmond is the son of Hockey Canada's Scott Salmond. Scott Salmond had a brief stint with the Kelowna Spartans in 1990-91...The Rockets are rated this week as the 6th best team in the CHL Top 10 rankings. Last week they were also rated 7th ...The Rockets play 13 games in 25 nights in the month of February...Only one birthday to celebrate in February. Tomas Soustal turns 19 on February 15th... The Kelowna Rockets named 19 year-old Rodney Southam as the franchises 22nd captain on January 25th. Southam was acquired in November, 2014 from the Tri City Americans for a 5th round bantam draft pick.
