ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week's action with a 9-40-4-0 record (7-17-3-0 at home, 2-23-1-0 on the road, 3-4 in overtime, 0-0 in shootouts) and in sixth place in the CENTRAL DIVISION...The ICE will finish with a record below the .500 mark for the first time since the 1998-99 campaign, ending a WHL record 16 year run of seasons with a .500 or better record (1999-2015)...KOOTENAY will continue its season long five game home stand February 10 versus TRI-CITY before a home and home set with SPOKANE beginning February 12.
ROSTER UPDATE: KOOTENAY is currently carrying 22 players (two goaltenders, seven defensemen and 13 forwards)...The ICE roster is made up of two 1995-born players, two 1996-born players, ten 1997-born players, seven 1998-born players and one 1999-born player...KOOTENAY has ten first-year players on its roster.
PINK THE RINK NIGHT: Join the KOOTENAY ICE and WESTERN FINANCIAL GROUP for PINK THE RINK NIGHT February 26 versus EDMONTON...Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game and join the ICE in taking a stand against bullying...Parents of students in SCHOOL DISTRICTS 5 and 6 can contact their school office for details on how to attend one of our biggest nights of the season!
JERSEY OFF THE BACK NIGHT: The 2016 JERSEY OFF THE BACK NIGHT will take place February 27 when the ICE host the PORTLAND WINTERHAWKS...Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to bid on KOOTENAY ICE game-worn jerseys...The winning bidder of each jersey will get to meet their player after the game and will receive their jersey at the end of the season...All proceeds benefit the KOOTENAY ICE EDUCATION FUND.
DID YOU KNOW: JESSE ZAHARICHUK was named the STEEPLES CONSTRUCTION PLAYER OF THE MONTH for JANUARY, recording 11 points (3-8-11) in 11 games played...WYATT HOFLIN became the second goaltender in franchise history (NATHAN LIEUWEN) to appear in 150 regular season games February 6 against LETHBRIDGE...ZAK ZBOROSKY (41) set a new career high for points in a season February 5 versus RED DEER...ZBOROSKY, who surpassed 100 career points February 2 against EDMONTON, has recorded at least one point in five straight games (2-5-7) and in seven of his last eight outings (4-5-9)...MATT ALFARO matched his career high for points in a season (33) February 6 versus the HURRICANES...RIVER BEATTIE scored his first career power-play goal and first career game-winning goal February 6 against LETHBRIDGE...ROMAN DYMACEK notched his first career power-play goal February 5 versus RED DEER...VINCE LOSCHIAVO played in his 100th career game February 2 versus EDMONTON...AUSTIN WELLSBY is seven appearances shy of 100 career games played.
GAME TIME CHANGE: The home game to be played Wednesday, February 10 versus the TRI-CITY AMERICANS will now begin at the regular start time of 7:00 pm, instead of 12:00 pm.
INJURY: Forward JAEDON DESCHENEAU will be out of the KOOTENAY lineup indefinitely with an upper body injury.
ONE YEAR AGO: After 53 games of the 2014-15 season the ICE were 27-25-0-1, after 54 games 27-26-0-1 and after 55 games 28-26-0-1.
