Morning Skate
Home Sweet Home: The Mavericks enter tonight's game with a perfect 7-0 record on home ice. Six of those seven wins have come against Mountain Division opponents, and most have been in dominant fashion. In those seven victories, Kansas City has outscored opponents 32-14.
A First For Everything: The Mavericks look to snap a skid tonight, the team's first stretch of back-to-back games without adding a point to their yearly total. Kansas City dropped a 3-2 decision at Tulsa Sunday and then fell 5-2 to Wichita Tuesday, both games on the road.
Durocher's Streak: Corey Durocher sure has made the most of his opportunity since cracking the Mavericks' lineup, recording a point in all three games he has played on the year. The Ottawa, Ontario native has a goal and two assists entering Friday's game.
Oil Leak: The only team the Mavericks have played but not registered a point against this season is Tulsa. Traditionally Kansas City has had its way with the Oilers, but this year's series figures to be a good one as two teams atop the Mountain Division have nine more games to play in the regular season before potentially meeting in the playoffs.
What To Watch For: A fast start. Kansas City has yet to concede even one point on the year when leading at any intermission. The Mavericks are just 2-0 on the year when leading through 20 minutes of play, a club that has made a habit of starting slow, but are 8-0 on the season when leading after two.
