WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA - Radovan Bondra notched his second goal of the season five minutes into the second period but it was Wheeling Nailers goals from Kevin Spinozzi, Nick Saracino and Zac Lynch that kept the Fuel from catching up in the third.
Wheeling forward Renars Krastenbergs capitalized on the power play and tied the score with three minutes remaining the first giving the Nailers momentum coming out of the locker room in the second period. It wasn't long after that Nick Saracino lifted a pass from Yushiroh Hirano at 5:51 to give Wheeling their first lead of the night.
Defensemen Kevin Spinozzi grabbed his fourth goal of the season halfway through the second to widen the lead to 3-1. Radovan Bondra, who is on a two way contract with the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, attempted to shorten the Fuel's deficit with his second goal of the year. Bondra drove the puck up the right circle after receiving a pass from Matt Thompson when Wheeling skater Robbie Hall made a diving attempt to block the shot. Goalie Danny Tirone lunged right and Bondra lifted the puck left into the net.
Alex Brooks circled around the right circle and shot a dagger to graze over Tirone's shoulder to score the first goal and the only point for the Fuel in the first period. The assists went to Matt and Ryan Rupert respectively.
The third period belonged to the Nailers as Spinozzi scored his second of the night when the Fuel pulled goalie Matt Tomkins for the extra attacker with three minutes remaining. Mike Fazio scored his first goal of the season and sealed the deal for a 6-2 Wheeling victory
Indy out shot Wheeling 26 to 23 while the Nailers finished 2-for-3 on the power play and the Fuel finished 0-for-5.
