Tonight...

The Blades are one point away from mathematically clinching a playoff spot as they close out their season series against the Calgary Hitmen at the Sasktel Centre. Saskatoon has won four of the last five, however are coming off a tough 3-0 setback in Prince Albert on Saturday. Calgary is in a similar situation, having allowed four goals in the first period in P.A. last night on route to an 8-3 loss. This is the first of three games in four nights for the Blades, with a home-and-home series opening on Friday night.

Head to head...

The Blades hold a 2-1-0-0 series edge this season, however they lost their lone game against Calgary at home on Nov. 16th by a 4-1 score. That was the last time these two teams met, with the two previous contests going the Blades favour. Saskatoon has outscored Cowtown 13-9 through three games.

Who to watch...

Tristen Robins continues to provide the Blades scoring punch, notching nine goals and eight assists in 11 games in February. The 18-year-old also leads Saskatoon in scoring vs. the Hitmen with five points (3G, 2A). Speedy forward Kyle Crnkovik has multi-point efforts in three of the last five games and leads the Blades with 41 assists. Starting netminder Nolan Maier is playing his best hockey of the season, allowing just six goals on 81 shots over his last three games, and needs just one more victory to crack the 20-win plateau for the third time in his career.

The playoff picture...

While clinching a playoff spot is in sight for the Blades, the players are putting more focus on catching the three teams they chase in the East Division. Prince Albert remains the top-seed, 12 points ahead of the fourth-place Blades. Brandon sits second with 74 points, while the ICE are a mere two points up on Saskatoon in third. With Winnipeg scoreboard watching tonight, it gives the Blades a chance to tie the ICE for third place with a win over Calgary.
