Swift Current Broncos News Release

MEDICINE HAT, AB. - The Swift Current Broncos (10-46-1-3) had plenty of opportunities to score Tuesday night against the Medicine Hat Tigers (38-19-2-1), but couldn't finish off a number of high-quality scoring chances in a 5-2 loss.

The Tigers opened the scoring just 44 seconds into the game as Ryan Chyzowski isolated himself in front of the net off a faceoff in the Broncos zone, took a pass from the boards and beat Isaac Poulter on the glove side.

Swift Current answered back quickly with Aiden Bulych intercepting a Tigers pass from below their goal line and beat Garin Bjorklund on the glove side 3:59 into the first.

The score remained 1-1 after the opening 20 minutes, but both teams had multiple chances to take the lead with Bjorklund and Poulter coming up with big saves. The shots read 17-8 Tigers after 20 minutes.

Medicine Hat poured on the pressure in the second period, outshooting the Broncos 25-5 and eventually regaining their lead.

After picking up a loose puck in the slot off the rush, Parker Gavlas slid it down low for Baxter Anderson who fired a one timer off Poulter and in to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.

The Tigers added to their lead in the final minute of the period. After forcing a turnover on the Broncos goal line, Lukas Svejkovsky centred for Chyzowski who fired home his second of the game with just 28 seconds remaining in the period.

Early in the third, Hayden Ostir was stopped on a breakaway by Bjorklund as the Tigers remained ahead 3-1. Buluch was also turned aside on a breakaway later in the period as Swfit Current racked up chances to cut into the Tigers lead.

Chyzowski completed his hat trick with 5:06 remaining in the game with a shot from the slot off the rush, before Eric Houk scored his sixth of the season off a rebound a minute later to cut the Tigers lead to 4-2.

The Broncos pulled Poulter for the extra attacker with two minutes to go, but couldn't find the back of the net before Tigers captain James Hamblin hit the empty net to seal the game.

The Broncos are on the road to play the Edmonton Oil Kings Friday night.
