End(ish) Of The Road

Tonight's matchup wraps up the Central Division gauntlet of six games in nine nights. The road hasn't always been kind to the Hawks on this jaunt, but there's always plenty to learn from trips like this one. Teams grow closer with all the time on the bus and in hotels, building chemistry for the long haul.

Of course, this may end the cross-conference portion of Portland's away slate, but the road trip rolls on with B.C. Division contests in Kamloops and Vancouver next week. So while the Hawks look to wrap up their time in Alberta/Saskatchewan with a positive result, there's more highway to hit before returning to the Rose City.

Finding Consistency

The Winterhawks enter tonight's tilt with points in back-to-back games, coming off of a 4-3 shootout defeat at the hands of Swift Current on Friday. Josh Davies has scored in three straight outings, and Diego Buttazzoni continues to produce with incredible consistency, riding a 14-game point streak to start the season. After an up-and-down start to this road trip, posting points in both of this week's games - including a win over the division-leading Medicine Hat Tigers - is a step back toward the dominant showings of October. The Hawks have to be pleased with the majority of their game against the Broncos, particularly without third-leading scorer James Stefan, who will return tonight after serving his one-game suspension on Friday.

Next up - a date with the Central's second-ranked Hurricanes...

Calming the Storm

Lethbridge comes into the contest with two wins from its last five outings, including a 4-3 overtime thriller in Medicine Hat last night. The 'Canes are led by Brayden Edwards' 15 points thus far, followed by Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Noah Chadwick (14 points) and top 2024 NHL Draft prospect Miguel Marques (14 points). Between the pipes, Harrison Meneghin has held down the fort with eight wins, a 2.28 GAA and .926 save percentage.

The Hurricanes have impressed on home ice, going 5-1-2 through eight games at Enmax Centre thus far. Their lone regulation loss on home ice came Wednesday night against the Everett Silvertips, who kicked off their own Alberta journey with that victory. Look for the Hawks to key in on what made Everett successful in that contest in their own quest for two more points.
