Thriller
What a start to this home-and-home set! Last night saw the Winterhawks take a rousing 6-5 OT victory in Spokane as they tied the game twice in the final minutes, then put forth a dominant showing in overtime as James Stefan netted the winner on the setup from Tyson Jugnauth.
The Winterhawks have now won five straight games, led in large part by their 20-year-olds. Since Portland's streak started on Dec. 8, James Stefan leads the league in goals (9) and shares the lead in points (12) with Gabe Klassen. Jack O'Brien sits right on their heels with 10 points, and Josh Davies on his with nine of his own. The Hawks have scored at least six goals in each of those games, and will be keen to get the offense cooking once more on home ice tonight.
Festive Threads
The final game before the holiday break calls for some special sweaters! The Hawks sported red and white holiday uniforms last season and decided to make it an annual tradition! Once again designed by Equipment Assistant Logan Acebo, this year's look uses an off-white base with red and gold accents and was debuted during warmups prior to Teddy Bear Toss last weekend. A zig-zag pattern separates images of hockey skates and reindeer with a Santa-fied Winterhawks logo as the centerpiece.
A limited supply of jerseys remain after initially going on sale at last weekend's sold-out Teddy Bear Toss game, so hit the team store EARLY if you want to get your hands on one! Plus, be sure to check out the other holiday-themed apparel in the lineup, including new beanies, hoodies, t-shirts and more!
