Medicine Hat Tigers News Release
The Story Coming In
The Medicine Hat Tigers split this past weekend with the Lethbridge Hurricanes winning 4-3 in overtime at home Friday night before falling 8-3 Saturday in Lethbridge. The Tigers are now 3-2-0-0 in their last five games and have won their last three home games. The Orange and Black will look to continue their winning ways in tonight's contest.
Tigers vs. Rebels
Tonight's game will be the first of six meetings between these two Central Division Rivals this season. The last time the Tigers hosted the Rebels was March 3rd, 2018, during the RE/MAX Presents the WHL Suits Up with Don Cherry to Promote Organ Donation. Medicine Hat raised $49,489.50 for the Kidney Foundation and the Tigers defeated the Rebels 6-1.
View from Red Deer
The Red Deer Rebels have had a strong start to their 2018-19 WHL Campaign and they are currently sitting in first place in the Central Division. The Rebels won their last game 3-1 against the Calgary Hitmen last night. Red Deer is 3-2-0-0 in their last five games and they are led by veteran Brandon Hagel with 10 goals and 12 assists in 12 games.
Tigers Talent
Tyler Preziuso has been tearing it, scoring three goals and picking up five assists in the last four games. "Tyler has tremendous speed which he uses to win races to loose pucks and create turnovers. He has been one of the hardest workers all season and he is getting rewarded for his effort," said Assistant Coach Joe Frazer.
Captain's Corner
Captain James Hamblin is tied with Tyler Preziuso as the Tigers' top point producer. Hamblin has 6 goals and 6 assists in 13 games played so far this season. The 19-year-old Edmonton product is a hard-working, two-way forward who humbly leads the Tigers by example. In Friday night's contest, Hamblin scored the game-winning goal on a penalty shot in overtime. Last season, Hamblin reached career highs in assists (43) and points (64) and will be looking to exceed those totals this season.
