GREENSBORO, N.C. - Isaac Galloway hammered a pair of home runs to lead the Greensboro Grasshoppers over the Charleston RiverDogs, 9-3, in South Atlantic League action Tuesday night in front of a crowd of 4,033 fans at NewBridge Bank Park.

Greensboro upped its mark to 10-9 this half and 50-39 overall with the victory, while Charleston saw its two-game winning streak come to an end, regressing to 9-10 and 35-54.

Charleston got to Greensboro starter Robert Morey (5-6) right off the bat to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Eduardo Sosa drew a walk out of the leadoff spot, and moved into scoring position two batters later when Kevin Mahoney smoked a single to right field. Gary Sanchez stepped to the dish next, and pulled a groundball through the left side of the infield to plate Sosa for a 1-0 RiverDogs advantage.

Shane Greene (3-10) used a double play ball to escape trouble in the bottom of the first, but could not keep the Grasshoppers off the scoreboard for long. Ryan Fisher doubled inside the right field line to start the second, and eventually came in to knot the score on a Daniel Black sacrifice fly.

Greensboro used the long ball to distance themselves in the third, staking claim to a 5-1 lead against Greene and the RiverDogs.

Galloway started the assault, clouting his 11th home run of the year over the center field wall to push the Grasshoppers ahead, 2-1. Greensboro proceeded to load the bases with two outs for Fisher, who provided a four-run cushion with a three-run bomb to right for his 12th round tripper of the campaign.

Galloway keyed the Grasshoppers again in the fourth, as Greene continued to scuffle and fell behind 7-1. Black singled, and Jacob Realmuto doubled in front of Galloway, who stroked a two-run double to center field to make the RiverDogs' hole even deeper.

Greene was unable to generate momentum from his first victory in over two months, lasting only 4.0 innings while yielding the seven runs on eleven hits and two walks, striking out two in the process.

Sosa scored his second run of the night in the top of the fifth as Charleston whittled its deficit to 7-2. The 20-year old Venezuelan center fielder singled and came across the plate on a Ramon Flores RBI single.

Nathan Forer hurled a scoreless fifth inning in relief of Greene, but ran into a bump in the road in the sixth as Galloway struck again. The number nine hitter continued his banner night, banging his second homer of the contest and 12th of the season over the left field fence to restore a six-run lead at 8-2.

Morey did an excellent job of limiting harm, despite giving up eight hits and three walks over 6.0 innings. The right-hander yielded only the two runs, while recording five strikeouts to remain effective with a big lead in tow.

The Grasshoppers inserted Chris Shafer in place of Morey, and the RiverDogs came within 8-3 in the seventh. Anderson Feliz doubled to left, and completed his trip around the bases when Sanchez notched his second RBI of the game with a single to left.

Francisco Rondon entered for Forer in the seventh, and allowed the Grasshoppers to stage a two-out rally to up their lead to 9-3. Ryan Fisher worked a walk, and raced home from first when Wilfredo Gimenez cracked an RBI double to right field to account for the final margin.

The RiverDogs and Grasshoppers head back to the diamond on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Scottie Allen (3-0, 5.00 ERA) looks to maintain his perfect mark for Charleston, while fellow right Rett Varner (4-2, 4.11 ERA) has been tabbed to oppose Allen for Greensboro.
