
Gabinet Replaces Idaho Teammate On National Roster

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Thursday announced that Idaho rookie
defenseman Mike Gabinet will replace teammate Jonathan Zion on the National
Conference roster for the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game presented by Bud Light on
Jan. 25 at Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif.
The Fresno Falcons are the host for the 2006 ECHL All-Star Skills
Competition on Jan. 24 and the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game presented by Bud
Light on Jan. 25. Both events will be at Save Mart Center and begin at 7
p.m. PT.
Selected in the eighth round (237th overall) by the Los Angeles Kings in
the 2001 NHL Entry Draft and in his first professional season in North
America, the 24-year-old Gabinet has a game-winning goal and three points
(1g-2a) in 11 games for the Steelheads. The 6-foot-3 and 210-pound Gabinet
played professionally in Finland in 2004-05 and had three points (2g-1a)
and 46 penalty minutes in 54 games. He played four seasons at the
University of Nebraska at Omaha where he had 47 points (6g-41a) and 138
penalty minutes in 130 career games.
