Gwinnett Stripers News Release

The Lead: The Gwinnett Braves turned the tables after getting knocked around last night by the Indianapolis Indians, smoking them 11-5 at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, GA, on Sunday afternoon. Six different G-Braves tallied RBI in the game, notching the squad's eighth double-digit run output of the year. The G-Braves (60-48) pull back in to first place in the International League South in a tie with Durham (figures pending with the Bulls playing a doubleheader today). Gwinnett also moves into the lead for the Wild Card race with the victory. The Indians (57-53) drop into third place in the IL West with the loss.

It Was Over When: The G-Braves got jealous of all the runs Indy was scoring, and opened up their own bat rack. After falling behind 2-0 in the 1st inning, Gwinnett got 1, 5 and 4 runs (respectively) in the next three innings.

Braves Beat:

On the Mound: Starting RHP Julio Teheran (12-1) went 6.0 IP, allowing 4 R/ER, 3 BB and a season low 1 K in the win (his lowest strikeout total since 2009 with the Rome Braves). His 12th win extends his G-Braves single season record and leads the IL. Braves RHP prospect Arodys Vizcaino went another scoreless inning, and LHP Ben Swaggerty made his return to the bullpen (replacing the traded RHP Juan Abreu in this morning's Michael Bourne deal to Atlanta) by going 2.0 IP with R/ER and 3 K's.

At the Plate: Shortstop Brandon Hicks loves to hit the Indians, equaling his career high hits in a game at the Triple-A level with a 4-for-5 day against the same team he initially set the mark against last season. He also finished with a team leading 3 RBI on an offensive kind of day. Five other G-Braves finished with multi-hit games (20 team hits total), including CF Matt Young (3-for-5, RBI), SS Tyler Pastornicky (2-for-6), 1B Mauro Gomez (3-for-3), LF Wilkin Ramirez (3-for-5, 2 RBI) and C Wilkin Castillo (3-for-5, 2 RBI).

The Opposition:

On the Mound: Indianapolis starting RHP Brad Lincoln (7-8) went 3.0 IP, yielding 6 R/ER on 11 H, walked none and struck out 3 in the loss.

At the Plate: Indians LF John Bowker went 1-for-5 with a homer and 2 RBI along with 2B Josh Harrison going 0-for-3 with 2 RBI, and RF Miles Durham (1-for-4) also had an RBI.

On Deck: The G-Braves take on the Indians in game three of this four game series and mini homestand, Monday at 7:05 p.m. Gwinnett will send out LHP Mike Minor (3-5, 3.14) against Indianapolis LHP Justin Wilson (9-6, 4.03). The game can be heard on the voice of the Gwinnett Braves, WDUN 550 AM and 102.9 FM, and also on TV at CSS. Fans can also follow at www.twitter.com/GwinnettBraves1, gametracker on www.gwinnettbraves.com or MiLB TV at www.MiLB.com.

Etc: Monday night's game is another chance for the G-Braves to give local families a break on the grocery bill, as all kids in attendance will eat free for this one. Children 12 and under will each receive a coupon good for a free hot dog, bag of chips and a soda.
