Future Rangers Outlast Emeralds 8-6 to Win Series

Spokane, WA -Indians starter Will Lamb (1-0) shrugged off a tough second inning to provide five solid frames, and Spokane's offense capitalized on a key Eugene error to climb out of an early 3-0 deficit, as the Indians defeated the Emeralds 8-6 in front of 3,940 fans. Spokane took three of five games from the Ems at Avista Stadium to even their second half record at 3-3 (23-21 overall).
Eugene scored three runs in the second, but the Indians quickly responded with four in the bottom of the inning, keyed by a throwing error from Emeralds first baseman Zach Kometani that allowed two Indians runners to score. Hirotoshi Onaka followed with an RBI single and Edwin Garcia capped off the scoring with a sacrifice fly.
The Indians scored single runs in the fourth and fifth, and two on a home run from Onaka (1) in the sixth, an opposite field shot that left the stadium buzzing. Spokane's rightfielder finished the game 3-5 with three RBI's.
Jorge Alfaro, Yefry Castillo, and Hanser Alberto all had two hits in the game and Jared Eickhoff pitched the final 1.1 innings to pick up his first save of the season.
Spokane wore Texas Rangers jerseys that were auctioned off during the game with proceeds benefiting the Special Olympics.
