Fundraiser For Former Condors Intern This Saturday

Saturday, July 21: A special fundraiser is being held for former Condors intern Nathan Gutierrez, who is in need of a kidney transplant. In conjunction with the Children's Organ Transplant Association, "Bands & Brews," will take place from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday at Fishlips, located at 1517 18th St. Several bands will be playing live and there will be raffles and prizes given away throughout the evening. There will be a $10 cover at the door and all proceeds will be donated to Nathan's cause. To learn more, go to www.nathanskidneyteam.com.

Thursday, July 12: Condors Community Relations Manager Jill Watts met with the Reach for Greatness Mentoring Program, located at 6840 District Blvd., discussing details regarding the program's guidelines and events. R4G provides the opportunity for young people and adults to build relationships through mentorship, and Watts has been a mentor to a 10-year-old girl at Wayside Elementary since 2006. Friday, July 13: Condors mascot Colonel Claw'd visited Olive Drive School, located at 7800 Darrin Ave., for North of the River's Summer Camp. The Colonel participated in various fun activities, including noodle hockey, and took pictures with the campers.

Friday, July 27: The Condors will travel to Lake Isabella with Goodwill Industries for the second Condors Care-A- Van of the summer. This road trip will once again assist Goodwill in collecting donations and to spread the word about the upcoming 10th Anniversary Season. Condors players (TBA), mascot Colonel Claw'd and front office staff members will visit Kelley's Café, located at 6627 Wofford Heights Blvd, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the South Fork "Kids Day Camp," located at 5225 Kelso Valley Road, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Come visit the Condors at either location to drop off your donations and get an autograph from one of your favorite Condors players. See you there!

Thursday, Aug. 2: Mascot Colonel Claw'd will visit Loudon Elementary Daycare, located at 4000 Loudon St., at 9 a.m. The Colonel will play educational games with the kids and be available for pictures and autographs.

Sign-ups are officially underway for the 2007-08 10th Anniversary Season Condors Kids Club! Membership includes tickets to six pre- determined games, one-of-a-kind opportunities to meet Condors players, access to the Kids Zone and exclusive prizes provided by the Bakersfield Californian, Bright House Networks and Wells Fargo Bank.
