Checkers Restructure Marketing Department

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte Checkers vice president Tera Black announced today that the team has restructured the marketing department. The changes are being made in an effort increase the team's involvement in the community and add to the overall fan experience.

Jon Pickett will assume the role of director of entertainment and creative services. His efforts will focus on the fan experience at home games as well as the team's Web site and producing the team's collateral material. Pickett began as director of communications and promotions with the Checkers in 2005.

Danielle Adkins will focus on the team's community involvement as the marketing and communications coordinator. Adkins started with the Checkers in January 2007 as the marketing coordinator.

The Checkers also recently announced the addition of Jason Shaya as the director of media relations and broadcasting/sales executive. Shaya will be responsible for broadcasting all Checkers games, serving as the liaison between the team and the media, writing press releases and updating the team's Web site. In addition to his media and broadcasting responsibilities, he will assist in the team's ticket and corporate sales efforts.

The Checkers will begin their 15th season of play in the ECHL with two home games on opening weekend. The Checkers will host the Columbia Inferno on Friday, Oct. 19 and the Texas Wildcatters on Saturday, Oct. 20. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three-consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399.
