Fuel's Gallant Effort Falls Short; Beast Rally to Gain Victory

Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - Playing their third game in less than 72-hours with a roster riddled with injuries, call-ups and defections, the Indy Fuel succumbed to a Brampton 4-goal unanswered third period rally to suffer a 7-4 setback Sunday at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
Twice the Fuel surmounted one-goal deficits to gain a 4-3 lead on the strength of a 3-goal second period resurgence which featured strikes stoked by center Chris DeSousa (1), Alex Wideman (17) and Matt Rupert (12) with the latter delivering his second unassisted goal of the game and his team-best 4th on the power play. Team captain Zach Miskovic earned a pair of assists in the uprising as Indy outshot the Beast in the middle frame, 17-8.
However, the third period proved to be the fatigued Fuel's undoing as the high-powered Beast club responded with a quartet of goals to win their 6th game in succession and complete the 5-games' series sweep over Indy.
The game's shots on goal were even at 33-apiece as goalkeeper Jake Hildebrand sustained the setback while his counterpart, Brampton netminder Zack Fucale claimed the victory.
Indy's winless streak has reached 7-consecutively while dropping 4-straight at home. The Fuel's last triumph was January 27th when they blanked Rapid City on home ice, 2-0.
The Fuel will hit the road for their next three assignments, beginning Wednesday night when they make their second trip to Texas in the span of a month to be hosted by the two-time reigning Kelly Cup Champions, the Allen Americans. The two teams will tangle both Wednesday and Friday nights at 8:00 pm. Then, it's on to Tulsa for a divisional clash against the Oilers next Saturday night, also at 8:00 pm.
Next Home Game: Friday, February 24 vs. Fort Wayne - 7:35 p.m. (The Giving Game) The Fuel and CHN join forces again, this time in conjunction with Community Health Network Foundation's annual "The Giving Gig." The Fuel will be sporting specialty jerseys designed by local patients, which will all be auctioned off after the game. All of the net proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit the Community Health Network Foundation. Friday is also a Fuel College Night presented by Moe's Southwest Grill - pick up a ticket, $5 towards concessions and $5 Moe's Bucks for $20 with a valid college ID.
