Fuel Complete Four Trades
June 14, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, announced Tuesday four transactions that completed the Future Considerations owed from trades made during the 2015-16 season. The Fuel received the rights to forwards Mikhail Stefanovich (Rapid City Rush), Darian Dziurzynski (Missouri Mavericks) and Tyler Currier (Elmira Jackals), while sending forward Mike Seidel to the Atlanta Gladiators.
Stefanovich comes to Indy from Rapid City to complete the trade that sent forward Garett Bembridge to the Rush in January. The 26-year-old forward from Minsk, Belarus recorded 30 points (19g, 11a) in 52 games with Rapid City in 2015-16, including three hat tricks. Entering his seventh year of pro hockey, Stefanovich has spent time in the AHL, KHL, Belarus and the VHL (Russian second division).
The Fuel pick up the 25-year-old Dziurzynski in return for forward Reed Seckel, who was traded to Missouri in December. The left wing from Lloydminster, Alberta appeared in 61 ECHL games last season split between the Mavericks, Greenville Swamp Rabbits and Tulsa Oilers, tallying 40 points and 84 penalty minutes. Prior to 2015-16 Dziurzynski spent three seasons in the AHL with the Portland Pirates, picking up 43 points (26g, 17a) and 321 penalty minutes in 181 games played.
Currier, 27, represents the final piece of the Shane Owen trade with Elmira in early March. A native of Anchorage, Alaska, Currier led the 2015-16 Jackals with 21 goals in 66 contests. The right wing has logged 118 total ECHL games in parts of two seasons with Elmira, Missouri and the Alaska Aces, recording 51 points (29g, 22a). A product of the University of Alaska-Anchorage, Currier began his pro career in 2013-14 with the Missouri Mavericks in the CHL, under former Indy coach Scott Hillman and alongside Owen and Fuel defenseman Anders Franzon.
Seidel heads to Atlanta to fulfill the payment owed for forward Alex Lavoie. The 28-year-old right wing from Chicago came to Indy in the Owen deal, but only appeared two games before missing the remainder of the season with a hand injury. Seidel played in 54 contests with the Jackals prior to the trade in 2015-16, notching 30 points (13g, 17a).
Indy, in conjunction with the rest of the ECHL, will announce their end-of-season roster on Wednesday - the official last day of the 2015-16 season. Teams can begin to sign players and extending qualifying offers on Thursday.
