Frostbite prevail in shootout

GLENS FALLS, NY -- The Adirondack Frostbite recorded their third consecutive win on Saturday night, defeating the Elmira Jackals 3-2 in a shootout in front of 2,467 fans at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
After a scoreless first period, the Jackals opened the scoring 2:49 into the second period. Derek Gustafson's clearing attempt was intercepted at the Frostbite blue line by Josh Tataryn, who wristed a shot into the open net for his 12th goal of the season.
The Frostbite came right back to the tie the game less than two minutes later. On a power play, Mike Berry gathered in his own rebound in the near corner, skated out in front, and banked a shot off of Elmira goaltender Ryan McIntosh for his 14th goal of the season.
But, the Jackals went back on top just 48 seconds later. Jason Sessa ripped a slap shot from the right-wing circle that beat Gustafson for his fifth goal of the season.
Adirondack tied the game at 14:06 of the second as Berry and Kevin Watters came in on a 2-on-1 rush, and Watters hit Berry in stride on the left-wing side, and he slid the shot in for his 15th of the season.
In the shootout, the Frostbite scored on two of their four attempts, while the Jackals scored once on five shots.
Hugo Belanger tallied two assists in the win, giving him 15 points in his last 10 games. Gustafson made 28 saves for his 12th win of the season.
