Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release

FORT WAYNE, IN - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), were shut out on New Year's Eve in Fort Wayne, as they were defeated by Kevin St.Pierre and the Komets by a final score of 6-0.

The Komets took 42 shots on Jamie Hodson, exactly twice the number of shots the Vipers offense got in through the Fort Wayne defense. Luciuk scored two goals for the Komets at 15:19 of the first period and 10:07 of the second period. David Carpentier, Kelly Miller, David Hukalo, and Guy Dupuis also scored goals for Fort Wayne. Dupuis had a game-leading four points (1G, 3A) on the night for the Komets.

The Vipers were without goaltender Shawn Conschafter, right wing Mark Scott, and defenseman Branislav Kvetan on the weekend road trip, which began Friday night in Rockford. Additionally, forwards Steve Crusco, Mike Krelove, and Matt Miller were scratches on Saturday night, leaving the Vipers severely shorthanded for the New Year's Eve matchup against the Komets. The team anticipates the arrival of new aquisition Charlie Elezi, who was traded from the Elmira Jackals last week in exchange for Josh Tataryn. Elezi is expected to play in Wednesday's game in Roanoke against the Muskegon Fury.

Call the Vipers office today at (540) 345-PUCK (7825) to get your tickets for the Vipers upcoming homestand. The Vipers play the Fury at 7:05p.m. on Wednesday, January 4th and the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday and Saturday, January 6th and 7th, each at 7:35p.m. Vipers hockey - Catch the Fever!
