Kingston Frontenacs (27-32-4-3) lost 8 - 3 to St. Michael's Majors (29-29-6-3) in Toronto this evening and the final OHL Eastern Conference playoff spot.
First Period Summary: 10-seconds into the first period their's pushing and shoving behind the Kingston net with Frontenacs overager Justin Suda called for Hooking and Roughing to Majors John Adams. Majors Tyler Haskins (12) pokes the puck into the right corner of Dayne Davis at 4:57 assisted by Scott Lehman and Colin Power. 7:39 Majors make it 2- 0 Peter Franchin (21) assisted by Darryl Boyce and Nathan McIver. 8:48 Majors Boarding penalty to Darryl Boyce for running down Adam Nemeth and the first power play of the game. Hooking to Ryan Wilson at 9:41 and the Frontenacs will have a two-man advantage for one-minute 8-seconds. Frontenacs Blake Pronk takes a heavy check and leaves the ice. Shots on goal at the middway point of this period favoured Kingston 11 to 5. Frontenacs rookie Chris Stewart (17) cuts the Toronto lead down to one at 11:51 assisted by Bobby Hughes and his textbook-perfect pass. Kingston Tripping penalty at 13:08 to Frontenacs Euro-Rookie Radek Smolenak who dumped Darryl Boyce. 16:18 Majors Hooking penalty to Darryl Boyce. 18:42 Frontenacs Holding penalty to captain Anthony Stewart. Shots on Goal this period favoured the Frontenacs 15 to 10. After 20-minutes, St. Michael's leads Kingston 2 - 1.
Second Period Summary: Frontenacs were shorthanded for the first 42-seconds with the Stewart penalty. St. Mike's takes back the two-goal lead at 2:10 from overager Dale Good (4) tapping it past Dayne Davis and assisted by Tyler Donati and overager Colin Power. Majors Euro-Rookie Alexei Ivanov (9) takes a wack at an airborne puck and putting it past Davis at 4:41. Frontenacs captain Anthony Stewart (31) fires a rocket by Justin Peters assisted by overager Evan Kotsopoulos and Justin Wallingford at 7:18. An Evan Kotsopoulos shot breaks Scott Lehman's stick. Toronto Holding penalty at 8:23 to Ryan Wilson. 8:31 Frontenacs Cross Checking penalty to Evan Kotsopoulos against Scott Lehman. Coinciding Roughing penalties at 8:41 to Anthony Stewart and Nathan McIver. Majors outshot the Frontenacs at the midway point of this period 11 to 9. Kingston's Bobby Bolt (11) comes up with a big goal trimming the Majors lead down to one at 13:39 assisted by Chris Stewart, his second point and Bobby Hughes, his second assist. 14:57 Ryan Wilson and Radek Smolenak have a good push-and-shove duel but no penalties issued. Third Period Summary: Kingston rookie Brady Morrison replaces Dayne Davis in net at the opening of this period. St. Michael's Colin Power (12) beats Morrison at the bottom right-corner at 3:12 for his fourth point of the night and assisted by Nathan McIver and Tyler Haskins making it 7 - 3 Toronto. 3:41 tempers flare Majors Hooking penalty to Nathan McIver and Fighting majors to Peter Franchin and Justin Wallingford. Kingston Roughing penalty at 5:11 to overager Justin Suda. Toronto's Cory Vitarelli gets an Unsportsmanlike penalty at 5:42. Toronto Bench Penalty at 11:29 for too many men on the ice. 13:15 Majors overager Dale Good is called for Cross Checking to Evan Kotsopoulos who also received 10-minute misconduct and Roughing penalty. Jeff Larsh (16) beats Brady Morrison who breaks his stick on the play at 14:25 for a 8 - 3 Majors lead assisted by Ryan Wilson and Nathan McIver. 18:47 coinciding Roughing minors to Frontenacs rookie Ben Shutron and Alexei Ivanov. The Frontenacs next game is their last regular season home game this Friday, March 18th Vs Oshawa Generals (7:30), then the season finale on Sunday, March 20th at Ottawa 67's (2:00).
