
2005 Ontario Hockey League Playoffs Update

Toronto - Heading into the final weekend of the 2004-05 Ontario Hockey League regular season schedule of games, several playoff positions in the Eastern Conference have yet to be determined.
The Kingston Frontenacs travel to Toronto to play the St. Michael's Majors tonight. If Toronto wins the game, they clinch the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff position. If Kingston wins or ties, they keep their playoff hopes alive with two games remaining this weekend. The Belleville Bulls clinched a playoff spot with their 3-1 win over the Oshawa Generals last night.
The Mississauga IceDogs lead the Peterborough Petes by one point for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. The IceDogs have three games on the calendar this weekend, including a home game against the Brampton Battalion on Friday. The Petes have two games left on the schedule, including a road game in Ottawa against the 67's on Friday. Brampton, Ottawa, Barrie and Sudbury have also clinched Eastern Conference playoff berths. The Eastern Conference playoff schedules will be announced this weekend.
In the Western Conference, all eight playoff positions have been confirmed following the Erie Otters win over the Owen Sound Attack last night. The London Knights, who locked up their second straight Hamilton Spectator Trophy as the league's regular season champions, will face the Guelph Storm in the first round of the playoffs. The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds clinched the West Division title and will face the Windsor Spitfires in the first round while the Attack will play the Plymouth Whalers and the Kitchener Rangers will face the Otters. The first round Western Conference playoff schedules follow.
OHL Playoffs
The first round of the 2005 OHL Playoffs opens Thursday March 24. The Conference Semi-Finals begin on April 6, the Conference Finals open April 19 and the OHL Championship Series begins on May 3.
