EVERETT, Wash. - The AquaSox had the green light on the basepaths as they stole eight bases in a 7-5 win over Tri-City on Saturday, Aug. 8, at Everett Memorial Stadium to win the three-game series 2-1. Luis Liberato and Yordi Calderon each had a pair of stolen bases and a home run for Everett.

Trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the fourth, Calderon stepped up with one out and clubbed a home run over the wall in left field to tie the game at 5-all. Jordan Cowan followed with a standing triple, one of his two extra-base hits, but the Frogs couldn't bring him home.

Everett added the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth. With Calderon batting, P.J. Jones and Liberato executed a double steal, and Calderon hit a sac grounder to score Liberato from third.

Six different AquaSox players stole a base, Liberato and Calderon had two each, and Cowan, Jones, Drew Jackson and Erick Mejia each had one. The explosive baserunning couldn't topple the NWL record for stolen bases in a game from 1974, which still stands at 11.

The AquaSox's bullpen held off the Dust Devils, only allowing one walk and two hits in seven innings. Lance Thonvold, Joe Pistorese and Rohn Pierce worked those seven scoreless innings and struck out eight Tri-City batters. Pierce improved to 3-0 with the win, Thonvold earned his first hold, and Pistorese took his first save of the season.

The Frogs hit the road for eight days, taking on Vancouver and Eugene, but return home for a three-game set with Spokane on Monday, Aug. 17. That series features #4MOM night, raising awareness for Braden Bishop's 4MOM charity and the Alzheimer's Association's Washington chapter. Tickets are available online at aquasox.com/tickets, or in the front office at 3802 Broadway in Everett.
