Frisco RoughRiders News Release

The RoughRiders scored seven runs in the final two innings to defeat the Hooks 9-8, including a walk-off homer by Dustin Majewski

Frisco has had a few comebacks this season, but nothing like what the RoughRiders were able to do Wednesday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The ‘Riders were down 8-2 heading into the final two frames, but the offense plated six runs in the eighth followed by a walk-off homer by Dustin Majewski in the ninth to give Frisco the 9-8 comeback victory.

Corpus scored three runs in the first inning to gain an early 3-0 advantage. The Hooks would push their lead to 6-0 before Frisco got on the scoreboard in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Julio Borbon to score Steve Murphy. In the following inning, Murphy's sacrifice fly made the score 6-2.

The Hooks plated two more runs to give them the 8-2 lead, but Frisco scored six in the eighth. Murphy hit a ground-rule double to score Chad Tracy and Majewski to cut the Hooks lead in half. Thomas Berkery hit an RBI single and Murphy then came around to score on an RBI single by pinch hitter Emerson Frostad to make the score 8-6. Two batters later, Elvis Andrus hit a two-run single to tie the score at eight.

In the ninth with one out, Majewski hit an opposite field shot over the left field wall to give Frisco the win, the 14th time Frisco won in their final at-bat.

Borbon led all batters with three hits and Murphy had a game-best three RBI. Borbon and Andrus each extended their hitting streaks to 16 and 15 games respectively.

Clayton Hamilton (1-3) earned his first Double-A victory as Frisco starter Jared Hyatt lasted just 3.2 innings, allowing six runs. Hooks' starter Polin Trinidad allowed just two runs over seven innings but received the no decision as Ryan McKeller blew his third save of the season and took his sixth loss, giving up the walk-off homer.

Frisco and Corpus will meet again tomorrow for game three of this four game set. LHP Derek Holland faces RHP Chance Douglass with first pitch set for 7 p.m.
