Frigo Named Lancers Assistant Captain

GREEN BAY, WI - As the team prepares for a three game road swing vs. the Green Bay Gamblers and the Chicago Steel, the Omaha Lancers named veteran forward, Minnesota State-Mankato recruit and Luserna San Giovanni, Italy native Luca Frigo as an assistant captain, the team announced Friday. With his appointment, Frigo joins Lancers captain Tucker Poolman and assistants Gage Hough and Jake Randolph in the team's leadership group and will wear the "A" for the first time in Friday's game vs. Green Bay.
"Luca has led by example all throughout his time as a Lancer," said Lancers Head Coach and General Manager Brian Kaufman on Thursday. "His worth-ethic, discipline and quiet leadership are great examples for all our players to follow."
In 46 games played this season, Frigo ranks fourth on the Lancers in goals with 17 and fifth in points with 29. Frigo's 80 penalty minutes are the third most on Omaha's roster this season and the winger's five game-winning goals rank tied for third league-wide in 2013-14. In his 94 career USHL games, the 5'11", 195 lb. forward has 27 combined goals and 47 total points with a plus-two rating and 150 penalty minutes.
Next up for the Lancers, it's a Friday road clash at the Resch Center in Green Bay Wisconsin for the first meeting of the year between the Lancers and the Green Bay Gamblers with the opening faceoff set for 7:05 pm.
