GREEN BAY, WI - In the first game of a three-game road trip, the Omaha Lancers defeated the Green Bay Gamblers at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Friday by a 4-1 final score. With the victory, the Lancers improved to 34-9-5 overall this season and with 73 points, now sit two points clear of the Waterloo Black Hawks for first place in the Western Conference and overall USHL standings.
Jimmy Schuldt sparked the Lancers early in Friday's first period thanks to a glove-side ripper from the top of the left circle at 3:00 of the frame with Jake Randolph and Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson collecting assists on the play. A Matthew Weis goal leveled the score at 5:33 of the second period with a power-play finish on Omaha goaltender Hayden Hawkey that sent the Lancers into the second intermission tied 1-1 with the Gamblers.
Omaha's offense clicked in the third as a center-point blast from Tucker Poolman at 2:13 of the frame gave the Lancers the lead for good at 2-1. A Matt Nelson goal just over one minute later, assisted by Anthony Angello, provided Omaha some insurance and an unassisted Gage Hough empty-net goal in the game's final minute salted away a 4-1 Lancers victory.
