Frelick Walk-Off Hit Salvages 10-9 Win in Extras

BILOXI, MS - After seeing an 8-0 lead evaporate, the Biloxi Shuckers (45-47, 11-14 2nd Half) rallied for a 10-9 walk-off win over the Montgomery Biscuits (42-45, 14-11 2nd Half) on Friday night at MGM Park.

With the game square at 9-9, RHP Luis Contreras (W, 2-2) entered for the Shuckers in the tenth. Contreras induced a lineout for the first out, but the bonus runner Kameron Misner moved to third on a wild pitch. The Shuckers intentionally walked Brett Wisley before Contreras struck out Diego Infante for the second out. Another walk loaded the bases, but Noah Campbell made a catch at the wall in left on a lineout by Ronny Simon to keep the game even at 9-9.

Gabe Holt started at second as the Shuckers' bonus runner in the home half of the tenth as RHP Josh Roberson (L, 2-5) came on for the Biscuits. Sal Frelick wasted no time, mashing a single to right on the first offer from Roberson to score Holt and win the game for the Shuckers. It was the 10th walk-off victory for Biloxi this season.

The Shuckers opened a big lead in the first two innings. In the bottom of the first, Frelick earned a four-pitch walk and Andruw Monasterio followed with a single to left. Garrett Mitchell then reached on a fielder's choice that loaded the bases and Thomas Dillard was hit by a pitch, forcing in a run to make it 1-0 Biloxi. Tristen Lutz was then plunked to force in another run and Campbell grounded out to first, plating another run to move the Shuckers ahead 3-0. A sacrifice fly by Felix Valerio finished off a four-run first inning for Biloxi.

In the home half of the second, Jason Lopez and Frelick both singled to start the inning and Dillard drove in both runners with a single to right, pushing the Shuckers up 6-0. A single to center by Campbell pushed home another run to make it 7-0 Biloxi after two frames.

On the mound, LHP Brandon Knarr allowed just two hits over five scoreless frames to begin his outing. The southpaw gave up his only runs in the top of the sixth on four straight hits and a sacrifice fly, but Knarr departed after six innings holding an 8-3 lead.

Montgomery would charge back with four in the seventh and took the lead with a two-run eighth. The Shuckers tied the game in the bottom of the eighth when Frelick walked, moved to third on an error on a failed pick off and scored from a Mitchell sacrifice fly, drawing Biloxi level at 9-9.

With at least a series split already guaranteed, the Shuckers can win their series against the Biscuits on Saturday night MGM Park. RHP Noah Zavolas (2-2, 7.52) takes the hill for Biloxi against Montgomery RHP Jayden Murray (8-2, 2.83) for a 6:35 pm first pitch.
