McLain Hits Walk-Off in 9-8 Win

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Matt McLain hit a walk-off double and the Chattanooga Lookouts defeated the Rocket City Trash Pandas, 9-8, on Saturday night from AT&T Field.

Leonardo Rivas got the ninth going reaching with a pinch-hit hit by a pitch and Elly De La Cruz advanced him thanks to a Trash Pandas misplay. Alex McGarry drew the one-out walk to load the bases and TJ Hopkins drove in a run with a single to force a pitching change.

Michael De Leon drove in one more with a single to center field. Luke Murphy then forced a pop-up to get the second out but McLain smacked one over the center fielder's head to clear the bases and claim the game for the Lookouts on the very next play.

McLain finished the game 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Hopkins went 3-for-5 with a double and RBI and De La Cruz hit his second home run of the year blasting a ball 423 feet over the right-field wall. De Leon registered three hits, a double, and an RBI.

Kevin Maitan led the Trash Panda's offense finishing 3-for-5 with a double. Sonny DiChiara finished 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs in his Double-A debut.

Murphy (6-2) was charged with the loss getting one out and allowing a run on two hits, for the guests. Pedro Garcia (2-1) was credited with the win, pitching the ninth allowing a hit, and striking out a batter.

Chattanooga improves to 41-54 on the year while Rocket City falls to 54-41.

Chattanooga looks to complete the series win on Sunday against the Trash Pandas at AT&T Field beginning at 2:15 p.m.
