Grissom Stacks up Four Hits in M-Braves 3-2 Win over Blue Wahoos

PENSACOLA, FL - Vaughn Grissom went 4-for-5, RHP Darius Vines tossed six innings of one-run ball and the Mississippi Braves (46-48, 17-8) beat the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (47-42, 12-13) in front of a sellout crowd of 5,038 fans on Friday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium.

Grissom picked up four hits for the first time as an M-Brave. In 13 games, Atlanta's No. 4 prospect is batting .418 with two homers and 10 RBI.

Vines posted six innings of one-run ball, allowing six hits. Vines struck out five with no walks. In his last seven starts, Atlanta's No. 12 prospect has a 1.51 ERA (7 ER/41.2 IP), with five quality starts. The right-hander leads the Southern League with 118 strikeouts and 100 innings pitched, and he is fifth with a 4.14 ERA.

The M-Braves finished with 11 hits, none of which went for extra bases.

After Pensacola scored the first run in the third, the M-Braves brought in two runs in the fifth on a Justin Dean walk and a Grissom base hit to lead 2-1.

Dean went 0-for-2 but drew three walks, one of which resulted in an RBI.

Justyn-Henry Malloy flared an RBI single into left field to extend the lead to 3-1 in the seventh. Malloy went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run.

Cody Milligan followed up a three-hit game by going 2-for-4 with a walk and a run.

LHP Lisandro Santos and RHP Justin Yeager each contributed scoreless innings. Santos has yet to allow a run in six innings over five appearances while Yeager picked up his second save to win it 3-2.

The fifth game of the series is on Saturday at Blue Wahoos Stadium. RHP Alan Rangel (4-4, 5.57) makes the start for Mississippi against RHP Eury Perez (3-2, 3.36) for Pensacola. The first pitch is at 6:05 pm CT, with coverage starting at 5:50 pm CT on 103.9 WYAB, First Pitch App and MiLB.tv.
