FREDERICKSBURG, VA: The Delmarva Shorebirds (0-2) fell to the Fredericksburg Nationals (2-0) for the second straight night as they overcame another early deficit to win, 11-4.

The Shorebirds were off to the races in the first inning, scoring three quick runs on a bases-clearing triple by Anderson De Los Santos that brought home Leandro Arias, Braylin Tavera, and Thomas Sosa. Moments later, Aneudis Mordan scored De Los Santos with a single to left, making it 4-0 Shorebirds after a half-inning of play.

The Nationals got one of those runs back in the bottom of the first on a two-out, RBI double by Brandon Pimentel to cut the Delmarva lead to 4-1 after an inning.

Blake Money delivered his best outing as a pro as the Delmarva starting pitcher fought through a 29-pitch first inning, and retired the next ten batters he faced while striking out a career-best seven across four innings.

After Money departed in the fifth, the Nationals made their move by scoring five times on a two-run single by Gavin Dugas, and a bases-clearing double by Pimentel to suddenly put Delmarva behind 6-4.

Pimentel then dropped the hammer on the Shorebirds in the 7th inning as he hit a grand slam to give him 8 RBI for the game while giving Fredericksburg a comfortable 10-4 advantage.

One more run would score for the Nationals on a throwing error in the eighth inning to make it an 11-4 game, which would be the final score.

Jose Atencio (1-0) earned the win in relief for Fredericksburg with Jared Beck (0-1) taking the loss for Delmarva.

The Shorebirds will look to salvage the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon as they send Luis De León to the mound to face Travis Sthele for the Nationals. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
