Frederick Keys News Release
The Keys begin a seven-game homestand on Monday, June 9. The first three nights the Keys will take on the Carolina League Northern Division Leaders, the Wilmington Blue Rocks and then they will finish out the week with four games against the Potomac Cannons.
Frederick County Keys For Reading
The final Keys For Reading Nights fall on Tuesday, June 10 and Wednesday, June 11. The Keys will be recognizing schools in Frederick County on those nights. The Keys For Reading Program is sponsored by BP Solar and Sylvan Learning Centers. Students who participate must read four books in order to receive a complimentary ticket to a Keys game. Those who receive tickets are then honored at a game, on the field in a pre-game parade.
Each school is asked to create a banner depicting reading and baseball. The banners are judged by the Carroll Independent Fuel Fun Patrol and the winning school receives an autograph party with two Keys players. Tuesday, June 10 two players will visit the Banner School in Frederick County because they won the banner contest on Private School Keys For Reading Night.
Launch-A-Ball
After the games on Tuesday, June 10 and Saturday, June 14, fans will have a chance to "launch-a-ball" courtesy of Frederick Pool and Master Spa. Pre-numbered tennis balls will be sold throughout those games and immediately following the game fans toss the balls onto the field aiming for hoops, each offering a different prize. Prizes include gift packs from McCutcheon's, Skate Frederick admission coupons, Six Flags tickets, a spa or pool from Frederick Pool and Master Spa and certificates from Outback Steakhouse.
Veteran's Night
VFW's around the area were given over 1,000 tickets to the Keys-Cannons game on Thursday, June 12. All veterans will be admitted free on that night.
Challenger Little League
Prior to the Keys-Cannons game on Friday, June 13, Keys players will participate in a game with the Challenger Little League. The Challenger Little League is comprised of kids who are mentally and physically challenged. Two members of the Challenger Little League were awarded as last year's "Joel's Kids." The Challenger Little League was awarded $2,500 by the Keys and Joel's Kids to purchase new equipment and uniforms.
Police vs. Firefighters Charity Softball Game
Prior to the Keys-Cannons game on Saturday, June 14, the Frederick County Police Force will take on the Frederick County Firefighters. This is the second year the Keys have hosted this game. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased through Michele Davis at 301-694-2091. Gates open at 2:30 p.m. with the game starting at 3:00 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Frederick Police Activities League and Daybreak Adult Day Services. Tickets purchased for the Police vs. Firefighters game are also good for the Keys-Cannons game that evening.
Saturday's Giveaways
The first 1,000 fans 18 and over that come through the gates on Saturday, June 14 will receive a tote bag courtesy of Quality Inn of Frederick. Also, in celebration of Flag Day, the Keys will be handing out miniature American flags to the first 1,000 fans through the gates. Frederick Sports Plex Clinic On Saturday, June 14, the Frederick Sports Plex will be holding a baseball clinic with two Keys players. The clinic will be held from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Father's Day
What better way to celebrate Father's Day than taking your dad to the park? The Keys have a special Father's Day package that includes four box seats, a half-pound Angus burger, a Keys baseball cap for dad and a chance to coach first base for a half inning, all for $50. To purchase a Father's Day package, contact the Keys Group Sales Department at 301-815-9900.
Summer Reading Program
In continuation with the Keys for Reading Program, the Keys are working with several area library systems to promote reading with students throughout their summer vacation. Everyone who signs up for the Summer Reading Program through their local library will receive a complementary ticket to the Keys-Hillcats game on Monday, August 18 or Tuesday, August 19, courtesy of M & T Bank. Keyote will appear at the Germantown Library branch in Montgomery County on Thursday, June 12 at 7:00 p.m. Keyote can also be found at the Brunswick Branch in Frederick County on Saturday, June 14 at 11:00 a.m. accompanied by a Keys player.
Extra Events at Harry Grove Stadium
The Frederick Keys, in conjunction with the Frederick News Post will be holding their second annual job fair on Tuesday, June 17 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Last Saturday, tickets to WWE Smackdown at Harry Grove Stadium went on sale. The event will be held on Saturday, July 5 at 7:30 p.m. Also coming to the Grove is the Frederick Blues Fest on Saturday, July 19.
