Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings News Release

San Angelo, TX - Ryan Fox hit two home runs in a game for the first time this season while driving in five to lead the Harlingen WhiteWings (20-56) to a 9-4 win over the San Angelo Colts (47-28) tonight at Foster Field.

The WhiteWings struck against Alex Merricks (3-1) right off the bat. With one out, David Fowler walked and Amadeo Zazueta singled. Fox followed by belting his 13th home run of the season over the left-center field wall to make it 3-0.

In the third, Fowler led off with a single. One out later Fox homered over the right field wall to make it 5-0.

The Colts got those runs back in the bottom of the inning against Brock Nehls (1-2). Albert Gonzalez led off with a single and Jose Torres was hit by a pitch. Two outs later, Jason Landreth walked. Bryan Frichter followed with a two-run single to make it 5-2.

In the fifth, Torres led off with a walk and moved to third when a pick off throw went wildly to the side wall. Aaron Cone hit a one-out RBI-ground out to make it 5-3.

In the sixth, Trey Hendricks reached on an error against Matt Greanead. Kevin Griffin singled. One out later, Carl Johnson hit his first home run of the season to make it 8-3.

In the bottom of the inning, Wyn Diggs and Charley Belew hit back-to-back one-out singles. Tyrone Pendergrass hit an RBI-ground rule-double to make it 8-4.

With two outs in the eighth, Johnson walked against Brian Wilburn. Johnson stole second, but no one covered the bag, so the throw from Diggs went into centerfield. Johnson raced for third, and Pendergrass' throw went into the Colts' dugout, allowing Johnson to score, making it 9-4.

The WhiteWings and Colts play for the final time this season tomorrow night at 7:05. Right-hander Miguel Sosa (1-0) will face right-hander Brian Henschel (9-3).
