Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - Four Everett Silvertips players are prominently featured in the NHL Central Scouting Service's Final Rankings ahead of the 2024 NHL Draft. Center Julius Miettinen (18th), defenseman Tarin Smith (38th), defenseman Eric Jamieson (84th) and winger Jesse Heslop (136th) are all named within the top 150 of North American skaters.
Miettinen, an '06-born Helsinki, Finland native, wowed in his first season in the Western Hockey League by posting 31 goals and 36 assists in 66 games played. He has seen his draft stock skyrocket over the course of the season, originally projected as a fourth-to-fifth-round pick prior to the season with a "C" grade in the preliminary list then climbing to 49th in the midterm rankings. Miettinen finished with 21 multi-point outings this season and strung together three different point streaks of five games or longer. His longest streak ended the regular season, posting nine goals and 12 assists over the course of a 10-game point streak. He has added two goals and two assists through eight playoff games thus far. Measuring at 6-foot-3, 203 pounds, Miettinen's two-way play makes him a marquee option as a potential first-round pick.
Smith, an '06-born Porcupine Plain, SK native, has also garnered increased interest over the course of the season rising from a W-ranked sixth- or -seventh-round pick prior to the season to 54th at the midterms up to 38th in the final rankings. While Smith appeared in only eight regular season games in 2022-23- plus seven games at the 2022 U-17 World Hockey Challenge with Silver medal-winning Canada Red- he flourished in his first full WHL season. He accumulated eight goals and 36 assists over 67 games played, including 16 points on the man advantage. He has also recorded a goal and four assists in eight playoff appearances to date. At 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, he is the 13th-highest rated defenseman amongst North American skaters.
Jamieson, an '05-born Calgary, AB native, is in his second year of NHL Draft eligibility. He attended Seattle Kraken Training Camp prior to the start of the 2023-24 season, and has gone on to post 10 goals and 22 assists in 66 games played. His best offensive performance came on Jan. 12 in Kamloops, where he netted his first career hat trick. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound defender's punishing physical play has bolstered his value. He was last listed at 107th on the midterm rankings.
Heslop, an '06-born Nanaimo, B.C. native, has built a successful sophomore campaign in the WHL logging 19 goals and 35 assists in 61 games played. He has collected 15 multi-point games this season, while 23 of his 54 points have come on the powerplay. The 5-foot-11, 171-pound winger has jumped 26 spots from the midterm list in which he was 162nd amongst North American skaters.
