FISHKILL, N.Y. - The Aberdeen IronBirds take advantage of a four-run sixth inning as the Renegades drop the season opener, 5-2, Friday night in front of 6,671 fans at Ripken Stadium.

Righty Devin Fuller (0-0, 1.93) put together a solid first outing for the Renegades hurling 4.2 innings of four-hit, one-run baseball. Reliever Miguel Sierra (0-1, 13.50) picked up the loss surrendering four runs (two earned) on five hits in 1.1 innings.

Aberdeen's Opening Day starter, Justin Anderson (1-0, 1.50), recorded the win giving up one run on one hit in six innings.

The Renegades offense was led by Robby Price, who recorded two of the team's three hits on the night. Trailing, 0-1, entering the sixth inning the team's 13th round draft pick came through big and sent an Anderson offering deep over the right field wall to knot the game up at one run apiece.

Price's Opening Day home run marks the Renegades first Opening Day home run since Jairo De La Rosa hit a solo home run to kickoff the 2006 season. That game will always be remembered, not for the De La Rosa's longball, but as the first professional baseball game of now Rays, All-Star third baseman, Evan Longoria.

The IronBirds answered right back in the home half of the sixth with four runs of their own on four hits...two doubles and two triples.

The Renegades wouldn't go quietly plating another run in the top of the ninth to bring the score to its final, 5-2. With Burt Reynolds on third, Bennett Davis grounded out to the third baseman allowing Reynolds to score.

The Renegades take on the IronBirds tomorrow for game two of the three-game series with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. The Renegades will give the ball to southpaw Julius Dettrich and the IronBirds will counter with righty Scott Copeland.

The 2010 season at Dutchess Stadium begins this Monday (June 21) as we Celebrate the World Premier of the 2010 Renegades. Tickets are still available so contact the Renegades box office at 845.838.0094 to get your tickets now.
