San Antonio, TX - The Arkansas Travelers fell 10-6 to the San Antonio Missions on Wednesday Night at Nelson W. Wolff Stadium.

In a 6-6 game in the bottom of the eighth, six straight Missions reached base with one out (five hits and a walk) to plate four runs.

Arkansas trailed 3-0 after the first inning and 5-3 in the third, but fought back twice with two three-run innings.

In the third trailing 3-0, CF Jared Mitchell lined a one-out single to right and stole second. SS Eric Stamets then hit a two-run home run to left, his first of the season, to cut the deficit to 3-2. The home run was Arkansas' first in 11 days. After DH Cal Towey walked and 3B Brian Hernandez singled, 1B Wade Hinkle looped an RBI double down the left field line to tie the game 3-3.

After the Missions reclaimed the lead thanks to a RF Hunter Renfroe two-run home run to left in the bottom of the third off of starter RHP Kyle McGowin, the Travs jumped back on the board in the fourth.

LF D'Arby Myers began the frame with a walk. With one out, Mitchell again singled to right. After a 2B Sherman Johnson walk to load the bases, Stamets lined a ball to left-center that was caught on a dive by LF Yeison Asencio, robbing him of an extra-base hit. Myers did score on the play for a sacrifice fly. After a double steal from Mitchell and Johnson to put the tying and go-ahead runs into scoring position, Towey smacked a ball off the center field wall for a two-run double to put Arkansas up 6-5.

San Antonio countered with a run in the sixth to tie the game 6-6.

McGowin lasted four innings and allowed five runs on 10 hits with a walk and five strikeouts.

RHP Alan Busenitz worked after McGowin and allowed the run in the sixth in his two innings of work. Busenitz walked one and struck out four.

After a 1-2-3 seventh, RHP Eduard Santons (L, 2-1) allowed a run in the eighth and loaded the bases before RHP Kurt Spomer was called upon. All three inherited runners scored.

Hinkle, Mitchell and Stamets each had two hits for the Travs. Mitchell scored twice and stole two bases as well. Stamets finished 2-for-4 with the home run, and three RBIs.

LHP Brandon Alger (W, 3-1) worked two no-hit innings between the seventh and eighth to earn the victory. Alger is the lone lefty in the bullpen for the Missions.

With the loss, the Travs fell to 29-22 this season and remain 2.5 games behind the Northwest Arkansas Naturals in the Texas League North Division after the Naturals fell down in Corpus Christi. The Travs and Missions will play the series finale on Thursday at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium. RHP Harrison Cooney will make his Double-A debut for Arkansas and will be opposed by RHP Casey Kelly (1-3, 3.27). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
