Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas. - Naturals catcher Zane Evans stepped to bat against flame-throwing right-hander Michael Feliz with a Jorge Bonifacio off of second base and took a 1-0 pitch and soared it out of Whataburger Field on Thursday night to lift Northwest Arkansas (32-19) over the Corpus Christi Hooks (35-17), 3-1.

It was all about Evans in the finale. With the Naturals trailing 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Bonifacio began the inning with a lead-off single and he wouldn't be there long. Evans drilled a double down the left-field line to score Bonifacio from first base to tie the game.

Right-hander Luke Farrell worked in and out of trouble all night long holding the Hooks scoreless after an unearned run crossed in the opening inning against him. The 6-foot-6 hurler worked 5.0 innings and struck out three as he did not factor in the decision.

Left-hander Daniel Stumpf (3-1, 2.37) picked up the win getting a huge strikeout with the bases loaded in the sixth inning as he tossed 2.1 shutout frames to earn the victory. Malcom Culver earned his fourth save in as many tries with a scoreless ninth frame.

Bonifacio celebrated his 22nd birthday on Thursday night by recording his fourth three-hit game of the season. The outfielder finished 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Alex Liddi tallied a pair of infield singles in the winning effort for the Naturals.

With the win, the Naturals are now 13-1 in series finales and have won six straight finales on the season.

The Naturals travel to San Antonio, Texas to wrap up the last three games of the six-game road trip against the San Antonio Missions with game one featuring right-hander Christian Binford (0-2, 4.42) against right-hander Justin Hancock (5-1, 2.02).
