July 22, 2009 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Frederick Keys News Release

The Keys sent ten men to the plate in the first inning, scoring four runs to take hold of Wednesday night's contest 4-0. But Salem would foil the early rally, tying the game in the fourth inning before taking control as the Keys fell 8-5 to even the series at a game apiece.

Leading 5-2 with two outs and nobody on-base in the fourth inning, Salem's 7-9 hitters all reached to load the bases. CF Che Hsuan Lin then doubled them all home tying the game and sending Keys starter Rick Zagone to the showers after just four innings.

With the game tied, Salem's bullpen took over. Kyle Fernandes, Jason Rice and Derrick Loop combined for 5 and 2/3rd innings of scoreless baseball to shut down the Frederick attack.

Keys C Caleb Joseph had a big night going 3-for-5 to raise his league leading batting average to .336. SS Pedro Florimon hit his eighth home run of the year in the first inning.

The Keys left 12 men on base, including the bases loaded in the first and fourth innings in the game. Frederick knocked Salem starter Jose Capallen from the contest after 3 and 1/3rd innings.

The series closes Thursday night, July 23rd at 7:05 p.m. with Pedro Beato getting the start for Frederick. Coverage begins with The UPS Store Pre-Game Show at 6:45 p.m. on The Keys Baseball Network.

Frederick returns home with fireworks all weekend for a series beginning Friday night, July 24th at 7:00 p.m. against the Lynchburg Hillcats. For tickets contact the Keys Box Office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
