Lynchburg dropped the series opener of a three-game set with Potomac 5-4 last night at City Stadium...The Hillcats are now 1-3 on their current six-game homestand and they have now dropped seven out of their last nine games...Tonight they play the middle-game of their series with Potomac and play game five of a six-game homestand...

VS. POTOMAC: The Hillcats are 8-7 against the Nationals this season and are 5-3 at home...Last season the two teams split the season series 10-10 and the P-Nats were just one of two teams the Cats had a .500 record or better against last year...Lynchburg won the final five games against each other last season...In the all-time series Lynchburg has the edge 151-142 and they are 82-69 at City Stadium...The Hillcats had won 12 of the last 15 games between these two teams before dropping three out of four at Pfitzner Stadium last week...Potomac has moved a game and a half ahead of Lynchburg for the best overall record in the Carolina League...

CITY STADIUM SLIDE: After beginning the season 23-7 the Hillcats have gone 4-12 since at Calvin Falwell Field...They have opened up this six-game homestand with a 1-3 mark...

OLD DOMINION: This series will complete a stretch of 10 straight games against opponent inside the state of Virginia...Seven of those ten contest against Potomac and three games at home against Salem...Lynchburg, Potomac and Salem are the only three teams from VA in the eight team Carolina League...Lynchburg played in the Virginia league for 12 seasons, most recently in 1942...

DE LOS RIDING HIGH: UTIL Jose De Los Santos went 3-for-4 last night an RBI, a run scored and two stolen bases...He has hit in 12 of his last 14 games and over that time he is batting .379 (22-for-58) with 10 runs scored and eight stolen bases...He has raised his average from .214 to .247 during that stretch...In 15 games against Potomac this season De Los Santos has hit .306 (19-for-62) with 14 runs scored and ten stolen bases in 11 tries...

TOUCHING DOWN: RHP Matt McSwain allowed five runs (four earned) in six innings of work last night and took the loss to drop to 8-5...In his last four starts he has gone 1-2 with a 6.14 ERA...This after he went 6-2 with a 1.76 ERA in his previous nine outings...His ERA got as low as 2.93 and is now up to 3.60, still good enough for sixth in the Carolina League...

HAGUE HALTED: 1B Matt Hague went 0-for-4 last night and had his eight-game hitting-streak snapped...Over that time he went 15-for-36 (.417) with six doubles, four RBI, four runs and two walks...He had hit in 19 of his last 22 games and over that time raised his average from .278 to .303...His current .299 average is still fifth in the Carolina League in batting...Sunday night was the fourth consecutive multi-hit game for Hague, his fifth in six games and he leads the team with his 25 multi-hit contests on the year...

LENGTHY STINT: The Hillcats activated RHP Tom Boleska from the Disabled List on Sunday after he had elbow surgery and he pitched last night for the first time since April 15th...He was placed on the DL on April 17th...Last night he worked two scoreless innings and struck out a pair...He has now allowed just one run in eight innings of action this season (1.13 ERA)...Last season Boleska went 3-3 with a 2.36 ERA and five saves in 23 relief appearances for Hickory...He also made one appearance with Lynchburg in 2008 and tossed three perfect innings of relief and earned a win...

BATTLING BISHOP: RHP Harrison Bishop tossed two and 1/3 scoreless innings on Saturday night...He struck out three and did not allow a hit...Bishop has now worked eight a 1/3 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run...He has struck out 13 and allowed just two hits over that time and lowered his ERA from 6.27 to 5.15...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: LHP Tom Milone was a 10th round pick of the Nationals in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out of USC...He became the number two starter for the Trojans as a true freshman in 2006 and went 7-4 with a 4.94 ERA in 16 starts...In 2007 Milone struggled, going 3-7 with a 6.17 ERA in 15 starts...The lefty bounced back in 2008, going 6-6 with 3.51 ERA in 14 starts as a junior...He made his professional debut with Short Season Low-A Vermont and posted a 1-3 record with a 4.57 ERA in six games (three starts)...The southpaw then advanced to full season Low-A and went 0-3 with a 2.89 ERA in seven starts for Hagerstown...This year he progressed to High-A with Potomac and has gone 5-4 with a 3.69 ERA in 18 games (16 starts)...He made his Advanced-A and P-Nats debut against Lynchburg on April 11th and earned a win by tossing five and and 1/3 innings of action at City Stadium...
