Ciro Rosero delivered an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth to snap a 3-3 tie and lift Lynchburg to a 6-3 victory over Potomac at City Stadium Wednesday night. The Hillcats and P-Nats will meet in the rubber match of the three-game set on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

The Cats struck first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. Erik Huber hit a one-out single and advanced to second when Potomac starter Tom Milone uncorked a wild pitch. Eddie Prasch knocked in Huber with an RBI triple. After Milone struck out Rosero, Jose De Los Santos drove in Prasch with an RBI triple that gave Lynchburg a 2-0 edge.

Lynchburg extended its lead with a run in the fourth. Jared Keel doubled to start the frame and Huber followed with an RBI single to put the Cats in front 3-0.

Potomac cut into the Lynchburg lead with two runs in the top of the fifth. Brian Peacock reached on a bunt single off Cats starter Chi-Hung Cheng with one out. Boomer Whiting followed with a bunt single and took second when Cheng committed a throwing error to first base, which allowed Peacock to advance to third on the play. Dan Nelson laced a two-run single to right field to make it a 3-2 contest.

After Cheng was lifted following the fifth, the P-Nats tied the game with at 3-3 with a run off Lynchburg reliever Harrison Bishop. Michael Burgess singled to start the sixth and reached second base on a groundout by Chris Marrero. Burgess took third on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI single by Francisco Plasencia.

The Cats answered with a run in the bottom of the frame. Rosero, who entered the game with a .182 batting average, hit an RBI double with two outs to give Lynchburg a lead it would not relinquish. Rosero went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the game.

Lynchburg tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth. Huber ripped a one-out double and scored when Prasch followed with an RBI double. Jordy Mercer drove in Prasch with an RBI single later in the frame to push the lead to 6-3.

Bishop (2-3) earned the win for Lynchburg and Martin Beno (1-4) took the loss for Potomac. R. J. Rodriguez worked a scoreless ninth to pick up his league-leading 18th save.

Lynchburg will attempt to earn the series victory when the two teams meet in the rubber match on Thursday night at City Stadium. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
