Sacramento Republic FC News Release
Sacramento, Calif. - Earlier today, USL Championship announced the Home Opener matches for the 2021 season. Republic FC will open the season on the road against LA Galaxy II on April 30. The Indomitable Club will host its first match of the regular season on May 12, when it welcomes Las Vegas Lights to Sacramento. On May 22, Republic FC will visit Orange County SC for the Southern California club's home opener. On June 19, the Indomitable Club will travel to Oakland Roots SC for the Bay Area club's first home match. The entire 2021 USL Championship schedule will be announced in the near future.
The club plans to welcome fans for the first time this year on April 24, when the club hosts Real Monarchs at Noon.
Republic FC will open their preseason schedule against MLS side Real Salt Lake in Utah this Saturday in a limited capacity match. The club will also face off against San Jose Earthquakes first team and U23 squad, as well as USL newcomers Oakland Roots in closed-door scrimmages.
The club continues to work with local health officials and experts to safely welcome fans back to the stadium for matches and events. Republic FC has developed gameday health and safety protocols, which have been reviewed by medical experts at UC Davis Health and submitted to the Sacramento County Public Health department.
Upon approval, the club will open select seating exclusively to Indomitable Members. Fans can still join the club and get priority access to 2021 tickets at SacRepublicFC.com/BecomeAMember. Fans can also join the priority notification list for single-game tickets -- depending on availability - by signing up at SacRepublicFC.com/single-game-tickets.
Earlier this month, the State of California announced that beginning on April 1, fans can be welcomed back into outdoor stadiums with capacity set based on local tiers and health department guidance. Current guidelines will allow Republic FC to host over 2,300 fans while Sacramento County remains in the red tier. As community health conditions improve to the orange tier, the club will be able to host nearly 3,500 fans based on current guidance set by the California Department of Public Health. As national health experts refine physical distancing guidelines and precautions, the club will continue to work with local officials and venue experts to refine stadium capacity and safely welcome more fans back to the best home field advantage in the USL.
For the 2021 season, Republic FC will play in USL Championship's Pacific Division which includes LA Galaxy II, Las Vegas Lights FC, Oakland Roots SC, Phoenix Rising FC, San Diego Loyal SC, and Tacoma Defiance. During the 32-game regular season, each team will play its division opponents four times - twice home, twice away. The four remaining games will be played against regional or cross-conference opponents. The remainder of the 2021 season schedule, game start times and broadcast availability will be announced at a later date.
