FC Tulsa to Kick off 2021 USL Championship Season with Black Gold Derby Rivalry in OKC on April 24
March 23, 2021 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Tulsa News Release
TULSA - May Day is matchday for FC Tulsa at ONEOK Field. The USL Championship announced FC Tulsa's home opener at ONEOK Field on May 1 against Sporting Kansas City II. In addition, FC Tulsa learned it would be the opponent for three other home openers at the beginning of the season, at OKC Energy in its season opener on April 24, at Indy Eleven on May 8 and at Atlanta United 2 on May 19. All four opponents announced are a part of FC Tulsa's Central Division in the Eastern Conference.
"Although we are still working our way through the preseason, it's good that we are closer to knowing our full schedule," said FC Tulsa head coach Michael Nsien. "It's definitely a motivator when the reality of a real match is in our view. The players and staff have been working well, and we can't wait to be back and performing in front of the crowd at ONEOK Field. Getting matches in early in the season will be an opportunity to iron out any deficiencies for our team. As an opponent in home openers for other teams, it's important to have our fans behind us to give us confidence at our own home opener."
FC Tulsa will begin the 2021 USL Championship season on the road against Black Gold Derby rival OKC Energy FC on April 24 in one of four opening weekend league matches. It will be the first of a quartet of meetings between the Oklahoma clubs as FC Tulsa looks to retain the Wrench it won in dramatic fashion last season.
ONEOK Field will be rocking on Saturday, May 1 as FC Tulsa opens its home regular season schedule against Sporting KC II. Tickets for the match are currently on sale now at FCTulsa.com/tickets as a part of 2021 Season Ticket Memberships, which start at $8 a match. Fans can purchase Season Tickets now and get their current rate locked in for life as long as the club plays at ONEOK Field.
Following its home opener, FC Tulsa will then look to play spoiler for two of its Central Division rival's home openers in May. A trip to Indianapolis awaits on May 8 as FC Tulsa plays Indy Eleven for the first time in franchise history. Another first will come 11 days later as FC Tulsa heads to A-town for its first-ever match against Atlanta United 2 on May 19.
A full 2021 schedule for FC Tulsa, including all 16 regular season matches at ONEOK Field, will be announced in the coming days.
